Mataderos Neighborhood Fair, a space of gaucho tradition in a place away from tourism, but charming and native.
Although Mataderos is not part of the recommended tourist areas to visit, on Sundays you will want to come here. Every Sunday, except when it rains, the neighborhood dresses up in tradition to give rise to one of the biggest fairs that Buenos Aires has.
Just 30 minutes from the city center, the right space is formed to give life to the popular fair with 30 years of experience, full of the most outstanding Argentine popular traditions, along with the most beautiful handicrafts and saddlery objects.
If you are looking for pieces of fine silverware, typical mates, facones, ponchos, blankets and any type of leather utensil, you cannot miss coming here, since you will find more than 700 outstanding stores in these items.
But not only will you find various trinkets, but you will be able to delight your palate with the best empanadas, the most exquisite locro, tamales, cupcakes and fried cakes, as well as roast and choripán. Obviously, it has a huge gastronomic space for all tastes!
In case it was not clear, in this fair you will find all the typical products of the culture of Argentina, going through the items that you can imagine. As an extra note, even your ears will hear the typical music of our country, since a stage is set up where different musical groups perform live, with styles of typical Argentine folklore. You can dance to the rhythm of zambas and chacareras, in addition to the famous national Tango.
On Sundays in Mataderos, the neighborhood dresses up for a party. Without too many detours, the Legislature declared this space as Cultural Heritage of the City of Buenos Aires. It is not to be expected less, given that its programming includes an enormous offer of art, such as folklore concerts, traditional dances and even gaucho skills form an extra show of tradition. In addition, festivals are held with peñas-style guitar playing and ring races.
If you are interested in enjoying a 100% Argentinian and traditional moment, be sure to come to the Mataderos Neighborhood Fair, every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Because it is a totally outdoor space, it is suspended in case it rains! You will find it on Lisandro de la Torre and De los Corrales Avenues.
Given the global situation of COVID-19, the use of face masks is mandatory.
